245 New COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Nigeria, the Northern States Mostly Affected

According to the new COVID-19 update released by the Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC), 245 New cases of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Nigeria, with the Northern part of the country being mostly affected.

The new update, dated 4th May, 2020, was released in the early hours of Tuesday 5th May, 2020. This brings the total number of cases in the country to 2,802 with 417 recoveries and 93 deaths. The country now has a total of 2,292 active cases.

The New cases immerged from 16 states including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja as follows:

Lagos State – 76
Katsina State – 37
Jigawa State – 32
Kano State – 23
FCT – 19
Boronu State – 18
Edo State – 10
Bauchi State – 9
Adamawa State – 6
Oyo Sate – 5
Ogun State – 5
Ekiti State – 1
Osun State – 1
Benue State – 1
Niger State – 1
Zamfara State – 1

The constant rise in COVID-19 cases across Nigeria, especial in the North calls for more proactive measures to contain further spread of the disease in the country, if not, it may become catastrophical.
