Enugu State on Saturday 2nd May, 2020, confirmed four new cases of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of cases in the state to Eight. This was disclosed by the State’s Minister for Health, Dr. Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu. The four new cases are in contact with the 3rd case of the state.
According to the Minister’s statement, the four new cases comprises of two adults and two children who hail from Bauchi State but are residents in Enugu State. They are contacts of the 3rd COVID-19 case in the state as they all travelled to Jos, Plateau State.
Presently, the state has six active COVID-19 cases while two has long been discharged.
Remember that on 30th April, 2020, a woman who resides at No 66 Nike Road, Abakpa Nike Enugu who returned from the North was reported to have shown symptoms of COVID-19, the result eventually returned positive, marking the 3rd case of the disease in the state. The incident prompted the Enugu State COVID-19 Response Team to seal off the residential area of the woman and place the occupants on quarantine. This is an active and quick measure from the State Government to cub further spread of the virus in Enugu State.
The Minister for Health Dr. Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu further enjoined the people of the state to keep observing the necessary rules put in place to stay safe from contracting the virus.
