Ogbete Main Market Enugu Opens Partially for Business

The Government of Enugu state, in a crucial meeting held on Saturday the 2nd day of May, 2020, with the Ogbete Main Market Traders Association, Pharmaceutical Dealers Association and Security Agencies, has agreed on partial reopening of the Ogbete Main Market Enugu starting from Monday, 4th May, 2020, for skeletal business services.

The meeting presided by the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi held at the Government House Enugu and had the leaders of the concerned Associations and Agencies in attendance.

The schedule for the partial business services at the Ogbete Main Market Enugu are as follows:
1. The Pharmaceutical Dealers, Provision Stores and Restaurants are to operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8am – 2 pm. While

2. Wholesale Food Dealers are to open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am – 2pm.
It was also disclosed that the market is opened only to shop owners as no customer will be allowed into the market. Also traders are mandated to be on facemasks before entering the market, as well as to observe social distancing in accordance with the Nigeria Center for Disease and Control (NCDC) guidelines. In addition to observing social distancing, traders are also mandated to observe regular hand wash and use of hand sanitizers. 

Meanwhile, the Akwata section of the Ogbete Main Market Enugu remains closed. In addition, Security Agencies are mandated to ensure and enforce strict compliance to the stated rules.
